Carlsen’s class, “eBay 101+: 10 Key Steps to Getting Started on eBay” is designed for beginning and mid-level eBay users. The class will cover shooting impressive photos, tips on understanding the buyer and avoiding negative feedback, effective marketing, and the pluses and minuses of consignment work.

Carlsen, who has more than 12,000 transactions and a 100% positive feedback rating, will also cover some of the sales tools available from eBay and PayPal, mobile device options and other related topics.

Local digital artist Sharon King will display her collection of photography, silks screens and photo collages in March at The Satellite in Felton. The showing will begin with an opening reception Friday, March 9 from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

King’s work includes images which are unenhanced by digital manipulation, as well as photo stencils with silkscreen processes, using hand-drawn and photo positives to create silk screen monoprints and editions.

King’s work is largely autobiographical and contains a self-analytic thread, or mood, which exemplifies her experience with a “painterly” approach to color and texture.  She has also worked in stained glass, batik, watercolor, and linoleum block print.

Her work has been shown at the Santa Cruz Art League’s Nationwide Juried Exhibit, Transference of Light, in 2010, and at Cabrillo College.

King is a retired teacher of Language Arts, Spanish, and cooking from the San Lorenzo Valley, where she taught for 30 years before realizing her dream to become a full-time working artist.  She has two boys, Josh and Eli Gladden, and is the doting grandmother of five. Sharon and her husband Jim King live in Soquel and like to go for walks with their dog Sammie.

“I use different techniques that allow people to learn Spanish quickly, and, more importantly, to remember it,” Norfleet said. “It’s a relaxed environment, everyone has fun and you always have someone you can practice with.”

Stella Norfleet has had great success teaching similar classes in Miami Florida. Each class also includes free snacks and samples of authentic Argentinian recipes.

“We meet once a week for an hour and a half and I limit the class to a maximum of 20 people,” she said. “It’s fun and a great way to learn a new language, and most of all to remember it in the future.”

Classes will be held weekly at The Satellite in Felton from 6:30-8 p.m. Cost is $25 per class with discounts for participants who sign up for five or more classes.
