CEO Barbara Sprenger speaking at IFMA Silicon Valley on Feb. 24

February 22, 2010

Satellite Telework Centers CEO Barbara Sprenger will be a panelist discussing “Evolving Telework: The Facilities Frontier” at the IFMA Silicon Valley meeting Wednesday at Juniper Networks HQ in Sunnyvale.

As technology tools for working remotely improve exponentially, facilities professionals are at the forefront of the remote work dilemma. AB32 requires companies to reduce CO2 emissions dramatically, and reducing commute miles can have a tremendous impact. With facilities costs estimated at $10,000 or more per employee, flexible and remote work offers yet another option to address budget constraints.

So, where are employees actually working when they’re not in their assigned workspace? The panel will discuss the evolution of telework from being internally mobile to working from home and the ‘new frontier’ working in 3rd places. What are the trends as the nature of work changes, the cost savings being realized by early adopters and the opportunities for facilities managers in the evolution of 3rd places? Hear case studies about telework policy development, cost savings (ROI), studies of actual corporate space usage and ”hoteling” possibilities, simple and automatic monitoring of CO2 emission savings from avoided commute miles, and new telework center concepts providing professional workspace and equipment in workers’ local communities.
