Weight Loss Seminars Begin at The Satellite in Scotts Valley Jan. 3 & 5
Scotts Valley, Calif., December 14, 2011 – Just in time for everyone’s New Year’s resolutions, local Certified Personal Trainer Ames Monahan, founder of Ames Health Systems, will host the first of a series of seminars on weight loss strategies beginning Jan. 3 and Jan. 5 at Satellite Telework Centers in Scotts Valley.
The Tuesday Jan. 3 seminar focuses on the practical side of losing weight. Food recommendations provided during the course are based on conclusions of Harvard School of Public Health and include eating a Mediterranean diet. The weight-loss strategies come from thousands of successful people who have shared their experiences on the National Weight Control Registry – a list of individuals who’ve lost 30 pounds or more and kept it off for more than a year.
Topics include portion control, avoiding hunger and surviving temptation at parties and restaurants. Participants will come away with great recipes and samples of smart foods. No dieting or calorie counting is required.
The Thursday, Jan. 5 seminar will focus on the emotional side of losing weight. The goal will be to help participants eliminate emotional eating using techniques based on cognitive retraining – changing your thinking. Topics include self-acceptance, keeping stress under control, thinking clearly and challenging your excuses. You’ll be dropping mental baggage as you lose weight.
The 1.5 hour seminars begin at 7:30 p.m., cost $10 each and are held at Satellite Telework Centers, 5900 Butler Lane in Scotts Valley. For more information call Ames at 831-234-9841 or email ames@cruzio.com.
