Weight loss seminar

Just in time for everyone’s New Year’s resolutions, local Certified Personal Trainer Ames Monahan, founder of Ames Health Systems, will host the first of a series of seminars on weight loss strategies beginning Jan. 3 at Satellite Telework Centers in Scotts Valley.

The Tuesday Jan. 3 seminar focuses on the practical side of losing weight. Food recommendations provided during the course are based on conclusions of Harvard School of Public Health and include eating a Mediterranean diet. The weight-loss strategies come from thousands of successful people who have shared their experiences on the National Weight Control Registry – a list of individuals who’ve lost 30 pounds or more and kept it off for more than a year.

Topics include portion control, avoiding hunger and surviving temptation at parties and restaurants. Participants will come away with great recipes and samples of smart foods. No dieting or calorie counting is required.

The 1.5 hour seminar begins at 7:30 p.m., costs $10 and is held at Satellite Telework Centers, 5900 Butler Lane in Scotts Valley. For more information call Ames at 831-234-9841 or email ames@cruzio.com.

Breakfast Club for Small Business Owners – “SEO – Being #1 on Google – Myth or Reality?”
What does it mean to be number one on Google? Why should I care? What about other search engines? Can you guarantee it? Won’t the company already in the number one slot be really hard to beat? Is number two ok or what about being the top of the second page? To answer those questions and give you some helpful tools to improve your online exposure, we asked our friend, SEO specialist, Evan Raymond, to come and give you an introduction on SEO and Google positioning.

This is a short talk on what it means to be in the #1 position in a Google search and an overview of how it might be achieved. SEO is specifically about “Organic” or “Natural” search and not about PAID search (SEM) or Social Media (SMM). In 2006 Evan started a Solar Company and marketed heavily on the internet using principles he researched about Search Engine Marketing. By 2008, Evan’s had been acquired by the largest manufacturer / installer of solar systems in the world. Evan has helped several small businesses take a strong hold on Internet Real Estate and be very successful. This event is free.
